Mureau Road Pipeline Project
(Update May 15, 2014) The Mureau Road Pipeline Project is Complete
LVMWD thanks everyone for their patience and cooperation during the construction project. The new pipeline will benefit District customers for decades to come.
(Update May 2, 2014) Work continues on the many “finishing touches” arising from this large-scale project. Workers are completing the installation of appurtenances, doing final paving and lane striping, replacing concrete curbs and sidewalks and finishing grading in excavation areas. (Update April 21, 2014) Traffic Alert – Avoid Mureau Rd. Tuesday, April 22 In order to complete a pipeline tie-in, it will be necessary to restrict the east end (two-lane section) of Mureau Rd. to one lane of traffic on Tuesday, April 22. Motorists and bicyclists should try to avoid that section of roadway but if it is necessary to travel in that area, expect delays and follow the instructions of flagmen. (Update April 17, 2014) During the week of April 21, there will be daytime work at the east end (two-lane section) of Mureau Road that will require lane restrictions. If it is not possible to avoid the area, watch for construction crews and obey the directions of the flagman. Also during the week of April 21, there will be additional work done on Mureau Road near the entrance to Mountain View Estates. “Clean-up” work will continue with patches to pavement, sidewalks and curbs. The current (interim) pavement patches are scheduled to be restored to pre-project conditions within the next two weeks.

(Update April 9, 2014) A major milestone has been reached; the last length of pipe has been installed. Over the next week, the pipeline will undergo testing and appurtenances will be installed. Beginning the week of April 14, some traffic lane restrictions will be necessary at various times and places, please use caution in work zones and obey the directions of traffic control personnel. “Clean-up” work will continue and pavement restoration will occur later in the month.
(Update March 27, 2014) The pipeline installation portion of the project is entering its final stages. Work will continue along Las Virgenes Road and the west end of Mureau Road. Road users may notice some areas of uneven pavement in patched areas, which are temporary. Pavement will be restored to a smooth condition before the project is complete. (Update March 20, 2014) Mureau Road is no longer subject to overnight closure; it is accessible at all times. Progress continues at the west end of Mureau Road and Las Virgenes Road; overnight lane restrictions will continue as planned.
(Update March 17, 2014) Work continues on the Las Virgenes Road portion of the pipeline. Please be mindful of lane closures and altered traffic patterns in the overnight hours. Overnight closures of Mureau Road may become less frequent after March 19.
(Update February 27, 2014) Rainy weather may delay work on the project over the next few days. Please exercise caution in the work zone as traffic patterns will shift from time to time along Las Virgenes Road and at the west end of Mureau Road beginning March 4 during the evening hours.
(Update February 20, 2014) Mureau Road Daytime Project Hours Change As of Monday, February 24, the daytime working hours at the west end of Mureau Road and for Las Virgenes Road will now be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This change should help keep the project moving on schedule and reduce the number of days spent working in traffic lanes. The overnight closures (8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday – Saturday) at the east end of Mureau Road will continue until further notice. |
