New Bill Payment Options Now Available

You now have several choices when it’s time to pay your water bill and there are no additional fees for using a credit card.

Visa, Mastercard, Discover and echeck images

 

The payment option menu includes:

  • Online at LVMWD.com/PayMyBill
  • By phone – (844) 395-2240
  • Use your bank or credit union bill-pay service
  • Pay by text from your smartphone
  • Enroll in AutoPay (accepting eCheck and credit/debit cards)
  • Mail a check
  • Pay in person at LVMWD leadquarters using cash, check or credit/debit card

Best of all, customers can now sign up to go paperless, receive a bill reminder, view bills online, and obtain a payment receipt by email. Simply enroll at the website: LVMWD.com/PayMyBill

There’s no extra cost to take advantage of these new payment options. And by going paperless, you do your part to save paper, the environment and postage costs.

Beware of Online Third-Party Payment Processors

Since LVMWD has no affiliation with these companies, we cannot be responsible for their errors, including late or missed payments that could result in further fees or service interruption.

We recommend that you contact Customer Service directly if you have questions or problems with your account. They can be reached at (818) 251-2200.

LVMWD General Manager Speaks to Congressional Committee

General Manager Dave Pedersen speaks to Congressional committee - 2017

General Manager David W. Pedersen was selected by the Association of California Water Agencies and the California Association of Sanitation Agencies to address the House Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment regarding the need for expanding federal, state and local partnerships to ensure reliable water and wastewater services.

Mr. Pedersen cited aging infrastructure, population growth and regulatory compliance as industry challenges that can be met through a collaborative program of low-cost revolving loans and grants that help communities across the country provide reliable service that is also protective of public health and the environment. In his testimony, he cited the "Pure Water Project Las Virgenes-Triunfo" (LVMWD.com/Pure-Water-Project) as one example of similar efforts in California and across the USA that can make additional water available in drought-prone regions.

Be Safe: Demand ID!

LVMWD Field Customer Service Rep in uniform with ID badge - always Demand ID!Always demand identification from those requesting entrance to your property claiming to be utility workers. All LVMWD employees carry a District-issued photo ID card. Field personnel also wear LVMWD uniforms and drive vehicles bearing the LVMWD logo.

If you’re unsure about persons requesting entrance to your home, do not let them in and call the Sheriff’s Department to verify their ID. If the individual is a real utility worker, he/she will have no problem with you checking their ID and will wait for you to verify with police.

If you can answer yes to any one of these questions, it’s time to update your information with the District.

A water interruption or emergency can happen anytime and the District tries to notify customers when problems occur. Many customers have dropped "landline" telephone service but have not updated their contact information with LVMWD. Take a moment to go online at LVMWD.com/Update-Account-Information to update your record or call Customer Service at (818) 251-2200 during business hours.

Reset Your Sprinkler Timer!

Here’s a friendly reminder that shorter daylight hours and cooler temperatures mean your lawn and garden areas need less water at this time of year. Be sure to reduce the settings on your irrigation timer in order to avoid excessive use or penalty charges.

Remember-

  • No watering between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • No runoff from your property
  • A hose "trigger nozzle" is required for home car washing
  • No watering during rain or in the 48 hours following rain

LVMWD’s popular facility tour program is set to return in 2018. Plan to attend one or more of these "family-friendly," enjoyable and educational programs that show the processes and infrastructure behind your water and wastewater services.

Potable Water Distribution and Treatment

Each tour is held on a Saturday from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and complimentary light breakfast and lunch are included.

Autumn is Compost Time!

Now is a great time to replenish soil nutrients by mixing it with free Rancho Las Virgenes (RLV) Community Compost from the Rancho Las Virgenes Composting Facility, located at the intersection of Las Virgenes and Lost Hills Roads in Calabasas, across from De Anza Park.

Community Compost is a nutrient-rich amendment that restores soil vitality and helps it retain moisture. Adding compost now gives it time to mix-in through the winter months in preparation for next year’s growing season.

Free RLV Community Compost is available every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring sealable containers, heavy plastic bags or a tarp to cover pickup or trailer beds. We’ll supply the compost and shovels, you supply the labor.

LVMWD operates and maintains more than 400 miles of pipelines that distribute water throughout the service area. Most of them are underground, ready to meet your needs, anytime day or night.

Call Before You Dig

Before doing any home improvement or construction project that requires digging or excavation, avoid a costly and possibly hazardous accident by calling 811 or visiting call811.com. An advance notice of two working days but not more than 14 calendar days before you intend to dig is required. A crew will come to the site and mark the locations of utility lines to avoid when working in or around your home. Markings are good for 28 days.

Protect the Pipes

Sewer systems around the world are now having to deal with clogs caused by so-called "flushable" wipes that do not decompose. A recent "fatburg" clog in London was so dense, it required heavy equipment and blasting materials to repair. Instead of flushing, these items belong in the trash.

Only three things should go down the toilet or drain –

The Three Ps: Pee, Poo & (toilet) Paper.

Protect the pipes and the environment, don’t flush drugs or expired pharmaceuticals, cooking oils or fats, coffee grounds or other non-soluble items that can cause a messy sewer backup.
